Album Notes

In June 2005 Angela got one of her songs from her new album reviewed by Jason Blume at a songwriting seminar in Oslo. Since then Jason has evaluated several of Angela's songs with top critique! Jason Blume is one of those rare individuals to ever achieve the distinction of having songs on the Country, Pop and R & B charts – all at the same time!

Angela is more than Country music.....

Angela's musical roots are to be found in the Swedish tune tradition. Singing and song writing has always been a part of her everyday life and the great Swedish poets Evert Taube and Dan Andersson gave her a preference to the kind of story-telling lyrics that also is well known to be characteristic to Country music. In her early teens, her family bought a farm.

So, she left her school and the city to spend almost ten years as a "cowgirl". On the farm she found her love for the Country music. Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris are some of her own favorite artists. During those years she learned how to work hard, and she found a depth and a meaning in life that she never even dreamed of before.

On her latest production Angela Lidin has been working with professionals in the biz. With musicians like Thomas Haglund, Berra Carlsson, Lasse Wellander, Stig Lindell, Jan Staahl, Owe Walter, Jan Kynkaanniemi and with Lennart Sjoeholm and Liza Oehman on background vocal.

With Lennart Sjoeholm at Purple Sound Studio in Stockholm, Sweden, Angela found a vocal producer who could help her grow as a vocalist. The album was mixed by Thomas Haglund and Aake Grahn. Lars Rosin recorded and mixed the vocal of Arly Karlsen (on the duet) and mastered the album.

Review:

Some in her native land of Scandinavia have called her poet. Some have called her writer, and others have called her artist. Who’s right, you might ask? The answer is…all of the above. Angela Lidin has made quite the name for herself across the waters, and this album should continue to do just that.

If you like good traditional Country, you will like a lot of what you find here. From the shuffle sound of “Bringing Me Back” to the Tex-Mex feel of “A Life Passes By,” she really hits the mark on the more traditional numbers here. She also tackles heartache quite well, such as the plaintive feel of “Freedom Calls” to the loneliness-tinged “Shack On The Hill,” which may be the best vocal performance here.

Making it in the United States isn’t always the easiest of tasks, but from the sound of things….I wouldn’t bet against her!
