The Truth Against The World was recorded during a 5-day snowstorm in a studio that was once a bakery with the incredible talents of drummer Geoff Brown, hip-hop laureat Lump Sum, bassist Fernando Saunders of the Lou Reed Band, guitarist Tim Pierce, mix-master Rob Chiareli, engineers Michael Deming & Chuck Rubano, and the production of Derek Nakamoto.
Angela Luna is a seasoned performer who captivates audiences and listeners alike with her powerhouse vocals. Jayne Keedle of The Hartford Advocate calls her an "evangelical preacher redeeming souls," but she prefers to let the music do the 'saving'. A bizarre alien abduction led her from her home on the East coast to the West, but Luna continues to maintain a level of musical integrity rarely seen in female artists today. The Truth Against the World reads like a personal journal set to Moroccan rhythms and rock wails. Each song a delivery of intensity and beauty. Each lyric an expression of history. Or rather, her-story...
"And that voice you’re hearing, the vibrant mezzo-soprano that soothes and attacks each song from beginning to end is chanteuse Angela Luna… sharing many similarities with a number of radio-friendly and musically challenging female-fronted units, including Throwing Muses, Natalie Merchant-era 10,000 Maniacs, and Jewel… TOUGH, TENDER, CATCHY, CHALLENGING… All the makings of a triple AAA phenomenon.”
M. Tye Comer, CMJ Magazine
