Angela Patua writes and sings Brazilian folk music in a style followed by country people in her home state of Espirito Santo. Based on traditions passed down from her grandparents, Angela's music combines Brazilian rural, African, and indigenous cultures into an authentic folk music. In addition to singing, she accompanies herself on guitar and percussion. In 1999, the Miami New Times named her Best Latin Singer and in 2001 the same newspaper named her Best Acoustic Performer. She currently resides in San Diego, California where she continues to write and perform music in addition to painting Brazilian folk art.
