BIOGRAPHY

ANGELA TEEK is a versatile entertainer. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she ventured west where she met her teacher and mentor, Leonard Reed. She got her first break opposite Sherman Hemsley in the play "Norman, is That You?" She went on to play one of the leads in "Ain't Misbehavin", starring Hinton Battle, at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. She was then cast as one the leads in Robert Townsend's break- through feature film, "Hollywood Shuffle." After headlining numerous cruise lines, Angela then was cast on "Star Search" where she was the top female vocalist for 10 consecutive weeks, winning the $100,000.00 grand prize. Legendary producer David Merrick soon took notice and cast Angela in the title role for his Broadway production of the George Gershwin musical, "Oh,Kay!". Angela hit the symphony circuit, where her George Gershwin/ Cole Porter tribute broke all attendance records with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. She then worked a lengthy engagement at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas, along with Comedian Don Rickles. Her television appearances include; guest starring roles on "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (with Scott Bacula) and "The Burning Zone" and a co-starring role on "Baywatch". She has also completed her second run on Broadway, in the Tony Award winning musical "Ragtime". Other theatre appearances include "Joseph/Dream Coat", "Beehive," "You Never Know" (NAACP best supporting performance nominee). Angela is currently a featured vocalist on the acclaimed composer John Adams CD, "I was Looking at the Ceiling and then I saw the Sky" (Nonesuch Records). She has been the featured vocalist with "Burn the Floor" since January 2002.
