** Disc contains award winning song(2006)& songs featured in TV Series airing Nationally fall 2006**
When the steel mill he worked at for decades went bankrupt taking with it his seniority and pension benefits, Angelo M. (Angelo Melasecca) tossed his hard hat and reached for solace in his guitar. Using the unwelcome twist of fate as a muse of sorts, he began penning songs for this debut CD. His soulful voice rings with authenticity and carries the rawness of truth seasoned with experience and retrospection as he sings Lost, one of the most emotionally taunting songs on the CD. As Rootstime reviewer, Francois Braekan puts it Lost, produces goose bumps with a brilliant slide and acoustic guitar; this song all alone justifies the purchase of the album." Braekan also calls Angelo M. a "Brilliant Guitarist" with an "Excellent Voice".
This debut effort, apply named, Far From Home delivers a strikingly personal, yet universally appealing all original collection of finger-picked American Roots. It's second cut, "Thirty Years" won an honorable mention in Mountain Stage's NewSong Contest for 2006; and two cuts "Thirty Years" and the title Track, "Far From Home" are featured in the PBS TV Series "Roadtrip Nation" airing Nationally in the fall/winter -06/07.
It is also getting FM airplay across the US & in Europe along internet radio airplay as well: "**** Very good guitar playing, beautiful voice and great songs! I really enjoy listening to this CD... My favorite cut is "Thirty Years". Well, he's got a hit in this one... It has great radio appeal!"- Przemek Draheim, Blues & Gospel Radio Host(PL -www.blues.p); "Whether it's his 'delta' slide guitar workings or his 'steel worker' 'blue collar' blues, the color or where you got 'em doesn't matter....Angelo M. plays the blues from the heart. Armed with his dobro, Angelo M. levels the playing field!" - Mickey Spillane, WNTI Radio-US(www.wnti.org).
With influences including the Ry Cooder, Duane Allman, Chet Atkins, and Leo Kottke Angelo M. brings to life an original, eclectic, acoustic collection of earthy folk & blues. In addition to showcasing his talents as a singer-songwriter, this CD demonstrates Angelo M.'s gifts as an accomplished finger-style & slide guitarist, Dobro player and more; along with writing all the music and lyrics, Angelo M. plays acoustic guitar, Dobro, 12 string, slide, mandolin, bass and percussion. Along with Angelo's talents, Linda Battiste, Philadelphia (US) based singer/songwriter lends backing vocals in a few spots, creating some lovely harmonies and Oz Christ, drummer for the popular Pennsylvania(US) band, The Screaming Daisys rounds out the percussion on a handful of tracks with awesome intensity.
And whether it's his intricate finger-style on the acoustic guitar, some searing slide work on the Dobro or the high and lonesome strains of his mandolin, you'll be sure to enjoy the talents of this gifted artist.
