Album Notes

A live concert of sacred music by the acclaimed women's high school sacred music ensemble "Angelus". Featuring a cappella and accompanied works by Michael McGlynn (Anuna), medieval chant and polyphony and Sacred Harp works,
this mesmerizing and beautifully sung recording is drawn from a live concert performed on July 8, 2010 at St. Benedict Cathedral (Evansville, IN).

Unique among American high school choral ensembles, "Angelus" is dedicated to the performance of sacred music from varied religious traditions and historical periods and draws on the strong musical influences of Anonymous 4 and Anuna.

Dr. Stephan Casurella (Dir. of Music, Christ Church Cathedral, Cincinnati) notes, "Angelus was an absolute delight! The young women sang with poise and enthusiasm. They clearly love the music they sing, and that love was contagious. Such commitment to refinement of musical expression is unusual, especially in the high school setting. Many a college or university would be envious of these voices and the ensemble's maturity. Director Dana Taylor is to be commended for envisioning and bringing to fruition a remarkable phenomenon. Who would have thought that a group of teenagers might have the discipline to study and bring to life such a broad range of music, from the Medieval world to southern harmony and beyond?!"
