Album Notes

"I'VE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE AN ALBUM LIKE THIS FOR YEARS!!!"
-Bill Frisell
"GREAT!!! DUNNO WHAT IT IS, BUT IT'S GOOD TO LISTEN TO.
BEAUTIFUL AND SORT OF PROFOUND, IN A LOPSIDED AND
BROKEN DOWN SORT OF WAY."
-David Byrne
"VERY STRONG!!"
-Marc Ribot

ANGRY MAN BREAKFAST is the duo of drummer/percussionist
Todd Turkisher and multi-instrumentalist/sound manipulator
Paul Socolow. Together or separately, they have performed
and recorded with (former Talking Head)David Byrne, Phillip
Glass, Arto Lindsay, Vinicius Cantuaria, Astrud Gilberto,
Tito Puente and Tiny Tim.

The music, however, is in a genre-defying place of its
own. Moody, off-kilter, evocative, rhythmic, alien yet
earthy, it is hard to resist.

And, though it would appear otherwise, "HAVE ANOTHER
DAY" was recorded to analogue tape, without the aid of any
computers or samplers. Everything was performed LIVE...
in fact, the music was written as it was being played. It
occurred spontaneously in the studio, though it sounds
composed.

But words are just words, and words can never do jus-
tice to truly original music. So....take a bite of ANGRY
MAN BREAKFAST....a meal that just may alter your world...

This is quite honestly the best album I've heard in a long time, full of imagination and inventiveness. Lots of strange twisted harmonies and stumbling rhythms will take you on a truly (whisper the word) mind-expanding rollercoaster ride. Like poking your nose while the grim reeper sits next to you telling you naughty jokes, it is hilarious and at the same time scary.

Highly creative and engaging work with wonderfully slippery grooves.

This CD is such a treat. The music twists, winds and stumbles around like a brilliant, colorful and intricate story told by someone with ADD who's been over served at the bar. Often when artists try to produce something that's this off beat, the music turns out to be obvious, forced and pretentious. I am very pleased to report that this couldn't be further from the case with Angry Man Breakfast. They meander from one excellent, slippery, odd groove to the next with a comfort, ease and honestly that one usually only sees from the likes of Captain Beefheart and Tom Waits. If you are looking to be taken on a unique and unpredictable musical trip that's filled with character and great grooves...then get this CD, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

Obtuse, colorful, deep and stark melodic patterns.

The music operates in a sensitive urban deconstructed arena with what reminds me of George Gershwin and Kafka.
