Anita Alma was born in Loving, New Mexico, and since she can remember her world has been one of color, music and poetry. Her remarkable career has encompassed many areas of the arts. Her paintings are inspired works of art filled with the luminosity of a creative inner soul. Over the years her canvases have been exhibited at various summer art festivals in Los Angeles and Mexico City.
Anita also enjoys illustrating and writing children's books; her poems appear in several poetry anthologies such as The American Poetry Annual (1989) published by the Amherst Society, Windows of the World, published by the National Library of Poetry and Quiet Moments (1990), published by Watermark Press. Several of her poems also appear in Language of the Soul (1994), published by Creative Arts and Sciences Enterprises. A book of her Spanish poems, Etchings of My Soul, was published while she was living in Mexico City.
Anita is also a songwriter and performer. While in Mexico City, two of her songs were published by the Promotora Hispana De Musica and recorded by Peerless of Mexico. But she prefers to perform her music herself. Blessed with a beautiful low contralto voice, Anita interprets her songs with the same tenderness and great romanticism found in her paintings and poems and reflects the inspiration of a creative soul. She has given recitals at numerous cultural events, including local "PeƱas" (Cultural cafes), throughout the city and also performed on two occasions at the University of Mexico City.
Anita Alma as Poet, Painter, Writer and Composer is truly a Renaissance woman. Blessed with the luminosity of a creative soul she has turned her effort towards young people, hopeful that in some small way she can help them to appreciate and be enriched by the arts.

When I first put the CD into my stereo I was floored by what I heard. This album is breathtaking and stunning!!! I play this CD all the time, whether I'm at home, in the car, or even during a romantic dinner with my husband! Anita's voice is beautiful and smooth, accompanied with vivid and colorful Spanish guitars. I highly recommend this CD!

Clasic Spanish singing, classy, sophisticated, and smart
author: GrandCentralMusic.com
This album opens with "Te Quiero Y Te Quiero" (2:55) which
means 'I want you and I want you.' Supported by a nice
Spanish-styled acoustic guitar she does a fine job of singing.
"Como Es Mi Amor" (3:30) is a pretty tune with nice guitar and
very fine vocals. Alma has good smooth vocal control. Very nice
and very romantic delivery. As you may have guessed by now this
CD is in Spanish.
"Amor de Locura" (Madness of Love) is a nice nuanced tune.
The singing sounds so good in Spanish, the language is romantic
in itself and here it is very laid back and nuanced. She sings at
times in a sing/talk like when one reads poetry. Next comes "Se
Me Acabaron Las Ganas." All of the rest of the songs average
around 2-1/2 minutes in length. Alma can vary her vocal
presentation depending on the song. This is classic Spanish
singing, classy, sophisticated, and smart, unlike much of the
garbage we see and hear on the Latin/Spanish networks like
UNIVISION and TeleMundo and others, which deliver Madonna or
Selena wanna-bes who can't sing but depend on their semi-nude
bodies for attention. Hispanics should be outraged by the copycat
crap featured on the Mexican network "Televisa" which often puts
out the latest fad, kids trying to be like American rappers or
British metal stars, a lousy copy of the lousy original American
and British filth. Mexican mariachi, Ranchera, Romantica, and
Musica Tropical take a back seat to the latest junk, sponsored by
your friendly phone company AT&T.
I applaud ANITA ALMA who sings well and does emotive lovely
work along with the guitar. On "Yo Se Que Algun Dia" is another
nice number. The sixth track is "Poema De La Noche" (Poem of the
Night) a beautiful tune. "Hoy Me Desperte Pensando En Ti" is a
nice mellow lush song. Now much of the music will sound alike to
the untrained listener, especially those that don't have a grasp
of earlier Mexican and Latin genres. Next "Dimelo Todo" [Tell me
everything] is a very pretty, quivering sophisticated guitar work
that sets the foundation for her singing. The main guitarist is
Ruben Esparza. Very nice work! After this very short tune we go
to "Oye Querido Mio" which is another solid effort. "No Me Digas
Nada" another fine track in the same style but with many varied
nuances musically and vocally.
The 11th cut is titled "Las Almas" [The Souls), and here the
guitar sounds very sad. Very poetic and emotional. The CD closes
with the title track which is an one of the stronger songs on the
album. A sensitive, hopeful work, almost a prayer. A lovely
poetic effect. All words and music are by Anita Alma. The album
was Recorded, Mixed, and Mastered at Tazzar Studios, Mexico City,
MEXICO. If you love classy, sophisticated emotive Spanish singing
the way it once was, you must check this album out. Only for
those with good musical taste.
