Album Notes

Good music for chillin'. This cd is a fund raiser to feed the hungry. $1.50 from every purchase goes to an organization that helps raise money to end world hunger. Thank you for participating!

CDBABY says, "Sometimes, the things that grab you most about an album don't register until the second, third or fourth listen. Sometimes, it's a sneaky kind of slow wonder that settles into your bones, that feeling of "something here is incredibly right." Anjuli Dawn and her disc, "Give" possess that kind of subtlety and care. While some may try to boil it down simply to the female folk rock genre, there is a distinctive, incessant and driving determination to her songs, a kind of resilient emotionality that quietly insists on being heard that gives her music an additional dimension of meaning and appeal. So, even though there is more than immediately meets the ear here, if female folk rock appeals to you in the slightest, this is an album to spend time with."

Good folk Music right here. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the songs sound all to similar.

Nothing Shy of Excellent
author: Chris
"Give" finds A.J. Dawn exploring deeper musical textures than I've heard on previous albums (which, by all means are excellent and deserve to be in your collection). Her guitar/bouzouki/mandolin and vocal work are at their prime here, and her songwriting skills are impeccable. Josh G. returns from "Reason" to add some creative upright bass lines, and a host of other highly talented musicians join AJD in producing a sound that is earthy and organic. A great mix of folky music with a lot of odd-timing and Mid-Eastern modal stuff going on.

Catchy compositions. I have listened to a number of these songs over and over. They definitely have "hooks" where you hear them again in the middle of the night. High quality music. Thanks !!

Anjuli is outstanding!
author: Vera Junge
Anjuli is a superb artist. Her guitar skills are undeniable, and she supplements most tracks with additional genius on mandolin, bazouki, and djembe! On "Give", she includes guest performances by many other talented musicians, but the highlights are her exceptionally crafted lyrics and harmonies, and her instrumental expertise.
