notes
Since forming in June 2003, Anna Coogan & north19 have established a sound both unique and familiar. Drawing from traditional bluegrass, country, rock and blues, the band's sparse, banjo-driven sound cradles Coogan's clear, powerful voice as she delivers tales of hope, heartbreak and desolation.
Their newest album, Sleepwalker, is the best document yet of the band's sound. Mixed by S. Husky Hoskulds and Dylan Fant, Sleepwalker showcases the mature songwriting of Coogan and her bandmates with entrancing ballads and haunting Americana.
The moving banjo stylings of Travis Beard, a 15 year veteran of the Northwest music scene, couple with the smooth bass line of Kevin Burkett and solid grooves of drummer Eric Hastings, provide the perfect backdrop for Coogan's beautiful vocals.
Sleepwalker also features guest musicians:
Mike Grigoni: Dobro and Lap Steel
Joe Doria: Hammond B3 Organ
Lauryn Shapter: Fiddle
Jeremy Brown: Fiddle
George Hazelrigg: Piano

Matured and yet again, great use of the banjo!
author: KarinI have sadly been away from Seattle and the anna coogan & north 19 concerts but hopefully they'll make it over to the northeast so the peeps over here can hear a bit of a wonderful band that I've been lucky enough to know and hear about the past 5 years. This is great second album for north 19!
Another Great Album
author: Rainy City ReviewerLiving in the Seattle, I've been lucky enough to see Anna and the band live a couple of times at the Conor Byrne. Albums are almost never as good as live concerts, but this album really captures the band's energy well. It's at least as good as "Glory", and if you like the samples you should absolutely positively buy the CD.
Fabulous!
author: Tracy in Mass.I love this CD! I have been eagerly awaiting a new CD from this great band ever since I got Glory. Sleepwalker is even better, if you can believe it! I particularly love State of Grace. Overall, the lyrics are fantastic, the music is fabulous, the vocals are outstanding and the band is terrific. This will have a permanent place in my CD player - until the next Anna Coogan & North 19 CD comes out!
