Album Notes

At the age of five, Anna Halldorsdottir was crafting songs on the family's pump organ. At seventeen she is writing her own songs. Music is in her very essence.

In 1996, Anna Halldorsdottir released the critically acclaimed, Villtir Morgnar (Wild Mornings). For this, her first solo album, Anna received The Icelandic Music Award's "Best Newcomer" award. The album's music and lyrics are inspired by Anna's connection to nature and life on Iceland's rugged west coast. Commercially successful, Wild Mornings received glowing reviews in Iceland's two most important newspapers.

In 1998, Anna's second album, Undravefurinn (The Wonderweb), was published. Recorded in the quiet landscape of rural Denmark with Birgir Baldursson and Orri Hardarson, the theme of the album is that all actions in the universe are interlocking. The album's songs are united with alluring sound-bridges and the rich interleaving of lyrics from one song to the next. Undravefurinn was chosen as one of the hundred best albums of the last century in Iceland.

Anna regularly writes music and does sound design for films including "Kiran over Mongolia", "The Fifth Season", "Written by Gandhi" and "The Place", and more.

In 2010, Anna gushes forth with the exciting, crisp and virtuosic sounds of her latest album, 'Here'. From the soaring and driven heights of 'Hazel Blue' to the delightful serendipity of "Dragon Fly", Halldorsdottir's 'Here' is her most vibrant work to date. The album reaches for the ceiling of inspiration without fearing to explore the longing that it is to be human. Recorded on a farm in Iceland, the album was completed during 9 stormy and 3 sunny October days in 2009.

Anna currently lives in New York City, and visits Iceland often.
