Album Notes

Born in Vancouver into a very creative family with 3 sisters, Anna was drawn to music at a very young age. Her family, she says, would constantly be singing together, most often for their entertainment as kids on road trips. In highschool she joined choir, using as much musical outlet as she could. Anna was fourteen when she one day picked up the guitar to learn how to play. With no formal guitar lessons, she began making up her own chords, her own rhythms, and soon, her own melodies and words. With no expectations, she stepped out into creating what seemed natural for her to do. "It began as something I wanted to try to do, and then it became something I loved to do and had to do to vent about life."

Anna's life as a musician has flourished since then. In recording her music regularly and taking voice training with Vancouver voice therapist Corolynn Hanney, her own simple vocal style has strengthened and evolved. She received a demo grant from FACTOR in 2003, had two of her songs made into music videos, and in 2005 completed her first full-length album, "All I Thought I Knew."

So what motivates Anna to write music these days? "At first I wrote to vent, but it's so much more now. I'll sing to express my love to God, I'll write to bring a bit of the hope that I have to others, and I'll record to make sounds that enhance and bring peace to life." Anna is currently planning the recording of another short album this summer of 2007.

Music isn't the only passion that Anna has, however. She also has become an established artist as a landscape painter, and attends a full-time dance program at 'Dance Barn Studios', located in Fort Langley, BC. Diving into these three skill sets has been exciting and challenging over the last few years, but Anna says that the inspiration of each feeds into the other two passions. All she knows is that she was born to be creative and to inspire others to be creative in their lives as well.
