She's Earned the Right to Sing the Blues
author: Ruth Bonnet
Seriously incredibly wonderful. I love Arlen but the interpretations can frequently be tired and overdone. Burnell's crisp announciation and swirling, bluesy vocals let the songs speak for themselves, and the arrangements are fabulous. Check this out. You'll regret it if you don't.

author:
Given that 2005 is the Harold Arlen Centennial, I am sure that we are going to be hearing his music quite a bit over the next 12 months. And, I think that when we sit back and review all of the Arlen tribute CDs that we will see this year Anne Burnell's BLUES IN THE NIGHT will be at the top of the list.
Armed with first class arrangements, velvet voiced Jazz singer Anne Burnell has put together one of the finest collections of Arlen songs to come along in some time. She breathes new life into old favorites like "Over the Rainbow," "I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues," and "Come Rain or Come Shine," and her interpretation makes this CD a must have for Jazz lovers as well as fans of the American popular songbook.
