It’s not too difficult to decipher the message behind “How You Forget”, but for me it definitely has a deeper meaning. When I began writing this song, I was head over heels for a guy that I was convinced was the one. He was my knight in shining armor that came at a time when I needed a hero. However, it turned out that behind the cape and sword was a mountain of lies and deceit. At that time I needed to find the strength to carry on. I was still in love with a man who was nothing but bad news. So I turned to music to try to find the courage to move on, alone.
