Album Notes

Anne Sands is a member of the internationally renowned Sands Family Folk Group from County Down in Northern Ireland.

Her parents were well -known traditional musicians and their farmhouse home in the Mourne Mountains was a focal point for singers from all over Ireland.

Anne made her first recording in 1968 when she was just 13.
It was the beginnning of the campaign for Civil Rights in Northern Ireland and the young Sands Family Folk Group went on to win international acclaim with their mix of Irish protest songs and haunting love songs sung by Anne in the sean- nos style.

This complilation includes songs recorded with The Sands Family over a period of 26 years, and from an album recorded with Kathleen McPeake from Belfast's most famous musical family.

It is accompanied by a 16 page insert with full lyrics, over a dozen photos and a unique poem written for Anne by the late Tommy Makem.
