Album Notes

Anne Smith (GirlB) is an identical twin, and one of nine children who grew up in upstate New York near the Saratoga/Lake George region. She learned to play piano from her dad and practiced on an old organ with a pump pedal and stops, that her father purchased from a farmer for $10.00!
Anne attended the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Music Education, and holds a Masters Degree from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After teaching in public and private schools both in Massachusetts and New York City, Anne began concentrating more on her writing and performing. She credits her parents, both school teachers, for her love of writing, and is gaining recognition in songwriting circles as a "wordsmith" and storyteller; a popular repeat performer at Don't Tell Mama in the NYC Theatre District, her video clips may be seen on YouTube. She is known for her diverse repertoire and intuitive piano accompaniment and a voice that has been described as "pure and soothing." Separated by Words is her second CD, a collection of 10 original songs that center around relationships and truth...breakdowns in communication...running away and coming back....or, settling for less, like the notorious character in her last song, "Transitional Girl". The melodies are strong and engaging, featuring Julio Fernandez on guitar, John Scarpulla on sax, Ginetta Minichiello on trumpet, and Gary Schreiner on accordion. If this CD were merely playing in the background , you'd like it and hum along. But if you are listening, really listening, there are stories being sung here that heal, amuse, inspire and make you want to play it again. Promise.
