a note from Country Joe McDonald:
"Annie and the Vets have made a delightful and unique first album. The spirit and content and performances on this CD make it a wonderful entertainment package. It is unique today to find a musical product that is both politically right on and musically entertaining."

and Jim Hightower:
"Was that terrific! I just love George's song there."
speaking of "Connecticut Yankee" in Palo Alto, CA August, 2004, when Annie and the Vets opened for him.

Listen to the words on this CD....
Annie and the Vets - Consists of members of Veterans for Peace. "We, having dutifully served our nation, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace."

Performers:
George Johnson - US Navy, Vietnam, 1962-66
Phil Pflager - US Air Force, 1961-65 (incl. Vietnam)
Anne Pflager - Veterans Supporter

The cover song, "Touch A Name On the Wall," by Joel Mabus, touches Vietnam veterans very deeply. Whenever Annie and the Vets perform, they get a strong reaction to this song, and requests for a recording of it. So, by popular demand, here is the CD.

Some other songs are fun, and most will make you think.

Proceeds from sales of this CD are going to Veterans for Peace. Yes, peace is possible.

REVIEWS

Heart and Soul for Complicated Times
author: Jokie X Wilson
These folks have been around the block more than a few times and have managed to make sense of it all with sensitivity and humor. We can't walk away from the difficulties of life, but we can render them more bearable and we can get off our buns and make changes, even if only small ones. All this is to the tune of charming folksy music that will make you laugh and bring a tear to your eye. As you may have determined by the titles to the songs, they have an anti-war bent. But they also have a very pro-soldier, support-our-troops perspective. All of the performers are members of Veterans for Peace. After you listen to this CD, you'll want to hug the next soldier you see. Peace and Love! :-{D}

and I didn't think there was a song for us. . .
author: Doug Nelson
I have been rather chagrined over the years at what I thought was a lack of a definitive Viet Nam war song. Now this - Touch a Name . . I was moved to tears. My thanks to Joel Mabus for writing it and to my fellow Veterans for Peace chapter members Annie and the Vets for their from-the-heart performance.

Great 60's era anit-war tunes!!
author: 240rwilk
Every song is very relevant to what is going on today and very reminisent of what went on 40 years ago. The political tone of this CD is very important. It's too bad that main stream radio will never play the tunes.

(apparently my face dropping as heard the switch in sgt pepper's ? band around line 3... was a missed filming opportunity) these songs - listening as type - to "connecticut yankee" (thinking of mark twain) go with me all their way ! right on ! max watts
