Album Notes

Annie & Mac have brought together a group of songs from what you might call deep catalog old time music. Influenced by Uncle Dave Macon, the Bailes Brothers, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Jimmy Driftwood, Grandpa Jones and others, Annie & Mac provide a pleasing mix of humorous, love, gospel, and old-time songs which they sing with love and joy in the old time duet style. Mac's clawhammer banjo and Annie's rhythm guitar are complemented by a group of musicians who are well steeped in the old time traditions. Speedy Tolliver and Keith Dill are both award winning fiddlers. Speedy recently received a Virginia fellowship for his longstanding musicianship and presides over the annual fiddle contest named in his honor in Arlington, Virginia. Andrew Acosta is a fine singer and instrumentalist in his own right and has released a solo CD of his own compositions. Rosser Clark adds much to the joy of this CD with his expressive guitar work. Don Rusnak is an exponent of many different banjo styles. He plays fretted and fretless banjo here and maintains that old time atmosphere. Barb Diederich's solid and accomplished bass playing completes the old time ensemble. This project was a work of love from beginning to end. We hope you will give a listen and feel the joy of the old time music.

A great CD with some wonderful songs and a couple of bango & fiddle instrumentals. I would have liked to have heard one track with Mac playing the mouth organ or harmonica. Maybe next time. Please make another CD real soon.
