A Strangely Beautiful Debut!
author: Bob Biz
A friend in Chicago tipped me off to this talented new singer, and while I don’t usually buy CDs ‘blind’, I decided to pick this one up purely on the strength of his recommendation. If I ever decide to organize my CD collection, I’d easily slip this album by Anny in there alongside my Tori Amos and Aimee Mann CDs. Anny shows her versatility by maintaining a natural balance between upbeat and downtempo moods. “White Lipstick Girl” and “Soulmate” are melodic and catchy, while “The Saint Louis” and “Is This What You Died For” are more thought- provoking and emotive. Overall this is a great debut album that shows that Anny has depth and talent.
