Album Notes

Allen Nyoshin Steir began working as a professional musician at age 14. Graduate of Manhattan School of Music with both his Bachelor's and Masters' degrees, he studied Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) in both New York and Japan and in 1996, was given his performing name, NYOSHIN, which means "as the essence of spirit and truth". In 2001 he received his Dai Shihan ( Grand Masters License.)

Allen taught instrumental music in the N.Y.C. school system for 37 years, where he established one of the most successful programs in the country for intermediate school students. He has been featured on 60 Minutes, when they discovered that most of the students in a special program at Julliard came from his classes.

He has performed extensively throughout the U.S.,Canada and Europe, performed with poet and actress, Mallie Boman, been an Artist-in-residence at Taliesin,(the Frank Lloyd Wright House), written and performed for the Kristen Jackson Dance Co., Dancing in the Streets, and several theatre companies in New York City. KOKORO KARA (FROM THE HEART)is his second album.
