is a Christian band with its roots in, Celtic, New Age, world folk and pop rock music. The three primary vocalists, Geoff Hanson, Lisa Chaddock and Annie Jarrett formed the music group at in the mid-1990s. Geoff Hanson and Lisa Chaddock are the primary composers of all Answer Hymn songs, with occasional input from the other members of Answer Hymn.
In late 1997 the group released 200 cassettes titled "Christmas 1997" under the name "Jarrett • Hanson • Chaddock." The home-recorded tapes quickly sold-out, with all the profits going to community outreach programs.
By the beginning of 1999, the trio had devoted numerous hours to arranging, recording and mixing their original works. With the studio support of brothers Kevin Shine and David Shine, the completion of the CD "When I Called On You," was their dream become reality.
This recording shows the beginnings of the song styles that would become known as the "Answer Hymn" sound. Although many of these songs were written individually by either Lisa Chaddock or Geoff Hanson, the very first song that the trio wrote together, "Sing, O Saint" is on this CD. It was written at the request by a man who simply walked up to Lisa and Geoff at a Cursillo Convention and asked if they could write something to his reading that day, "Sing, oh saint, Jesus is with you." We don't know where he got the saying or why it meant so much to him, but being obedient we wrote the song and sang it the following day to close the convention!
"For His Child" has become a favorite of many people, because it speaks to the deepest desires of the heart and of our relationship to God.
The group selected the name "Answer Hymn" to represent the devotion of their music. "Answer" signifies that their music is a response and "Hymn," which in a play on words replaces "Him", signifies the traditional aspect of their compositions.
Since then, the group has recorded one CD for the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego titled "Love is the Call", and re-recorded their original Christmas CD for an mp3 CD adding additional songs titled "Stable in the Darkness" in 2001 dedicated to Trinity Church in New York following 9-11, followed in 2003 by an mp3 CD titled "Judge Naught." “Stable in the Darkness” is being re-mastered for re-release in late 2007.
Their newest project is has come after a two year hiatus following Annie Jarrett’s battle with breast cancer. She is in remission, thankfully! “Forevermore” is the first of many more CDs ahead, and is available both in stores and online. This CD includes “Come to the Lord”, produced at Helix Studios by Jack Howell. Recording and mixing were done by P.S. Studios in San Diego, and mastering is by Allan Phillips.
We in Answer Hymn pray that this music touches your heart and soul, and gives you peace and much enjoyment.
