Album Notes

This is my first full-length solo LP, featuring 14 original songs, such as "Matters of the Heart", "If It's True", and "Remembrance", which was featured on the Discovery Channel's "Dr. G: Medical Examiner" show. The record features many different styles, ranging from folk to rock to alternative to country to just about anything else I could come up with. I'm really proud of this as my first full body of work and it was good to get this one out there.
Enjoy,
Anthony

About Anthony da Costa...
Anthony da Costa is a Folk/Indie Rock, Singer/Songwriter from Pleasantville, NY. At age 16, he is the youngest member of the Hudson Valley folk music collective, Tribes Hill (tribeshill.com). His writing and performing draws from a deep well of rich musical influences, ranging from Bob Dylan and The Band, to Dan Bern and The Beatles, to Neil Young and Johnny Cash. Known for his unique interpretations of classics drawn heavily from the Dylan and Bern catalogs, Anthony has gained strong acceptance for his original work. He has released five CDs, including “Quality Time” (2007), which features special guests, Fred Gillen Jr. (fredgillenjr.com), a great singer/songwriter, and the awesome Americana trio, Red Molly (redmolly.com). These records contain a portion of the 100-plus songs he’s written to date.

Anthony is a prolific, largely self-taught musician, playing guitar, bass, cello, mandolin, harmonica, piano, drums, djembe, trombone and just about anything else he picks up! His performance schedule is equally prolific. Anthony plays coffee houses, stages and festivals throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond, often performing two hours straight…without a coffee break! He gigs at such venues as the Towne Crier Café, Peekskill Coffee House, Coffee Labs, Dragonfly Caffe, Golden Apple Coffeehouse, Common Ground Coffee House, Starving Artist Café and the Chthonic Clash. He also has performed at the Paramount Center for the Arts, the Postcrypt Coffeehouse at Columbia University, Pleasantville Music Festival and at “guerilla showcases” at Falcon Ridge and NERFA. In February 2007, at the invitation of the Folk Alliance (folkalliance.org)—of which he is a proud member—Anthony will formally showcase at the Alliance’s 19th Annual International Convention in Memphis.

Anthony’s greatest joy is sharing the stage with talented singer/songwriters, like Hope Machine (Fred Gillen Jr. & Steve Kirkman), Red Molly (Laurie MacAllister, Abbie Gardner & Carolann Solebello), Rich Deans, Montgomery Delaney, Pat Wictor, Matt Turk and even Pete Seeger! Inspired and influenced by their musical artistry and integrity, he considers them to be among his musical heroes. In turn, Anthony promotes their performances and recordings, ending his weekly e-letter with one simple request: Support Live Music!

Anthony da Costa has hit Folkdom and brings roots to a sandy scene that was washing out to sea, at least to the ears and eyes of his generation. The versatility of his lyrics will lead the listener to be singing along, free to associate each song with God or a loved one, interchangeably. Except, maybe for "Rearrange." Will he ever listen? Bravo, Anthony.
