ANTHONY LAU - MR.HARMONICA
REVOLUTIONARY AND DARING IN HARMONICA PLAYING
Anthony Lau’s passion is to promote the art of classical harmonica
playing. He started to play the chromatic harmonica at the age of ten
under the influence of Larry Alder. He is considered a master in Asia
and is the only classical harmonica virtuoso in Canada with world
recognition at present His registered name of Mr. Harmonica is listed
in the prominent page of internet search engines of Google, Yahoo, and
AOL etc. His website of Mr. Harmonica http://www.mrharmonica.com.
ranks the highest hits amongst the classical harmonica players’ websites.
Apart from performing and teaching, Anthony also writes articles for
harmonica websites and publications worldwide on the subject of the
art of classical harmonica playing. Up to now, he has produced four
CDs albums with rave reviews.
Due to the versatility of the chromatic harmonica as a concert
instrument and its beauty in expression, his repertoires include works
composed for other instruments, such as the flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet
and the violin etc., as demonstrated in this album, without diminishing
the beauty of the original music. Several works in this album, namely,
The Violin Concerto A minor by Vivaldi ,The Trumpet Concerto in E
Flat by Haydn and the Clarinet Concerto, KV 622, by Mozart are pieces
that have never been played by a harmonica before and are considered
revolutionary and daring in the field of harmonica playing.

Remarkable Music
author: Mayjy WangI didn't know that the harmonica could produce such beautiful sound until I met Mr. Lau's music. His music is remarkable. I enjoyed this CD very much.
Very Unusal Achievement
author: Andrew C O SeeVery unusal selection of repertoire by a very unusal artist. He is not afraid to push the boundaries of classical harmonica, both artistically and technically, and this cd shows him at his best. Interpretively thoughtful and tasteful, and technically secured and brilliant, he has confronted the challenges posted by these pieces. The disc is well planned out and the harmonica is suitably mixed into the soundscape. Overall this is a very enjoyable disc, and a must not only for classical harmonica lovers, but for all musicians and music lovers in general.
Mr. Harmonica's Pocket Piano
author: Jane & Neil DuncanThis CD exemplifies the talent of Anthony Lau. His interpretation shows an ability to adapt, for the harmonica, classical music written for other solo instruments, which is unusual for the pieces chosen on this CD. We enjoyed this CD so much, we have given many away to appreciative friends.
