notes

Christmas songs like you've never heard before! Sure to be a holiday classic! The newest release from Angels Of Venice, "Sanctus" (meaning "sacred") combines global influences such as world/middle eastern, gothic, medieval, renaissance, baroque, classical and traditional sounds to create a CD of holiday music you can listen to all year round. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is world music/danceable and good for DJs for the clubs at Christmas time. It features Eric Gorfain, who toured with Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, on silky, serptentine violin. "Carol Of The Bells" is Dead Can Dance-ish while "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy" sounds like the soundtrack to "A Nightmare Before Christmas." Fourteen months in the making, this CD's instrumentation is harp, flute, cello, violin and percussion as well as harpsichord, tanpura (like a sitar), oboe, bassoon, bass, church bells, temple bells, gongs, chimes, Gregorian chant-type vocals and stunning female vocals on "Carol Of The Bells." Official release date: October 31, 2003. -Produced by Carol Tatum

UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 26, 2006:
Carol Tatum is now working on a new CD for release in early 2007. This bold, new departure for Angels Of Venice is actually Carol Tatum coming "full circle" back to her rock roots as an electric guitarist in the late 80s and early 90s. Instrumentation will be hammered dulcimer, cello, violin, east Indian female vocals, world percussion, sitar, keyboards, harp and more. The CD, entitled "Primitive Kiss", will be a two-disc release. One CD will be instrumental and the other will have four songs with rock/industrial male lead vocals. The first guest vocalist will be Charles Edward from the industrial/goth/rock band Seraphim Shock. Carol will also be doing a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Four Sticks." Please e mail Carol with any questions about the upcoming release or to be put on the e mailing list. We will let you know when "Primitive Kiss" is out. Peace, please. ~Carol Tatum, ANGELSVEN@aol.com, www.angelsofvenice.com

Great and DIFFERENT holiday music. You won't hear this one at the mall. Traditional melodies with exotic instrumentation.

Immenently listenable, standard Christmas tunes are rendered new by exciting, Middle-Eastern sounding arrangements. The musicianship is peerless, and they give the songs the serious treatment they deserve. Why mess around with the latest popstar who is turning out drivel at the holiday season? Go with the Angels!
