A whirlwind round of recording and mixing resulted in a soca, reggae, calypso, and dance storm of steel pan goodness.
Apocalypso loves playing dance tunes (80s disco, synth-pop, and even arrangements of electronica and the like), and MicroBurst has four of our favorites: "Saturday Looks Bad To Me" (Oppenheimer), "Skiing Through Revolving Doors," "Why Do You Always Cry?" (Onion Taint), and "Drum Machine Joy" (Joy Electric).
We also offer a couple of our favorite socas from recent years: Kid Site's "Fat Gal Wine" [we made a slight mistake on the packaging and mislabeled the original artist] and Mini Priest's "Body Water," which we paired with the traditional "Tell Me Ma" for fun, and an original calypso called "Bad Cat In My Room."
Rounding out MicroBurst are the perennial pair of "Soca de Chocobo" (based on Uematsu's chocobo themes from the Final Fantasy series of games) and its reggae partner "A Song I Sing About Her" (The Yellow). And we wouldn't be us if we didn't include a They Might Be Giants cover, "No One Knows My Plan."
