notes
“Lies somewhere between the worlds of folk and bluegrass and the disc is brimming with the righteous anger of classical American protest songs,” WAMU Metro Connection, Washington, DC.
Moving Mountains is a compilation of songs and interviews directly related to the fight against Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining (MTR) in southern West Virginia. Inspired by the struggle of the hard-working people MTR negatively impacts, producer Jen Osha gathered songs and interviews and put together this CD, subtitled Appalachian Voices Rise Up Against Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining. Described as “a moving and well-done musical concoction that successfully bottles the verbal rage against the machines gobbling up Appalachia’s mountaintops is search of coal,” (The Herald-Dispatch, Huntington, WV), the music brings to light the permanent destruction of mountains, rivers, streams, and communities.
Moving Mountains is the fastest selling CD ever under the Falling Mountain Music label. The musicians, producers, and recording engineers donated every part of this album. So far, the CD has raised more than $7,000 in small grants to individuals and nonprofit organizations helping communities threatened or destroyed by mountaintop removal. Please help us to raise awareness about the impacts of MTR by buying this CD and/or reading more on the websites we have included to the left. Thank you for your interest!
