Appalachian Trail "Time for Movin"
(Mountain Music Machine - 042)
Comments from Joe Ross review;
"We know the Appalachian Trail generally runs in a north/south direction, however I expect this CD will bring many invitations to perform in the direction of all points on the compass as they continue to build a legion of fans."
Comments from Dave Higgs WPLN-FM, Nashville, TN;
"Appalachian Trail has put together another winning combination-covering some powerful tunes along with some killer Tommy Austin songs. I am so glad the band is re-formed and is obviously alive and well. I was especially enamored with Long Way to Virginia, Pale Rider, A Christmas Tear (destined to become a Christmas classic) Driving Blind and the a cappella stunner Delivered From the Hands of Pharoe." (Dave Higgs)
From the Liner Notes:
Appalachian Trail was formed around 1984. Original members Linda Lay and Carson Cooper were traveling to their first show and didn't have a name for the band when they saw a sign that read "Appalachian Trail" and decided on that until they thought of something better....20 years later, this band is still burning new trails in the bluegrass arena. This band helped cultivate the careers of the likes of Adam Steffey, John Bowman, Becky Buller and countless others.
It is a renewal time, for the band has two new members, a new CD and several original songs. Current members include Vickie Austin, Tommy Austin, Tim Laughlin, Glen Rose and Josh Goforth. This lineup has toured in several countries and all across the US. Appalachian Trail has won the highly acclaimed SPBGMA band championship, and several other awards.
Tommy has been with the group for seven years. Josh for two. Tim was a member in years past, and Glen and Vickie are the new kids on the block. Carson Cooper continues to be a strong mentor to the group. Linda left the band to form a new group named "Springfield Exit" and is recording music for the Cracker Barrel label. The numerous former and present members of Appalachian Trail continue to be close friends who are tied by a bond of their love for music. We hope you enjoy our latest CD.
