Amazingly talented Apryl Electra is a singer-songwriter and musician who began playing piano at the age of six months and started composing music at the age of six years. She was playing piano before she started walking and talking. She writes all of her original material on guitar, piano and/or bass and does her own drum and bass programming.
Over the last few years Apryl Electra has been recording her first CD. "From The Padded Cell of Suburbia" is a mix of rock ballads that tell of heartache to her self-described "electracousticlash" songs that speak of strength and empowerment. This collection of 14 extremely well-written songs is long awaited: the earliest of the songs "Kiss The Wind" was written by Apryl Electra during her senior year in high school at the age of 17.
In July of 2005 Apryl Electra founded Artcele Records which runs on a small staff of dedicated volunteers. Now, along with continuing to write, Apryl Electra is recording her second CD on her own and playing as many shows as she can around the Twin Cities.
All songs written, arranged and produced by Apryl Electra.

What people are saying about Apryl Electra...
"Based on her appearance --- which is hard to igrnore, given the '70s mirror shades, Day-Glo leggings, and two-toned neo-mullet --- you might assume that Apryl Electra is some electro-clash warrior, thriving on gender-bending and shock tactics. And you'd be mostly wrong. The local singer's debut album "From the Padded Cell of Suburbia", a collection of piano-driven rock songs, goes down smoother, like a less despondent Tori Amos. But as soon as "Who's Keeping Score" shows up with the thump of a mechanical kick drum, it's apparent that this is a girl who knows how to party. I mean, just look at her." -Lindsay Thomas, City Pages
"She has a great voice and is hyperactively entertaining in an enjoyable way." -David de Young, howwastheshow.com
"One of the best songwriters in the Twin Cities." -Kat "Pony" Smith, keys/lead guitar for the Melismatics and former bassist for Mark Mallman
"This is one instance where the cover image has you expecting something other than what is actually inside. Judging by Apryl Electra's look I was expecting punk or at least hard-ish rock. But this is actually more of a pop-rock album. A great one at that. I've been pretty addicted to it since I first listened. There's just enough edge to her music to make her really interesting while still being pretty close to mainstream appeal. Plus she's a piano player and that's always appealing to me. Great strong, yet pleasant voice. The songs are very well written and interesting. The songwriting reminds me a little of Jonatha Brooke (especially on "Kiss the Wind") but more piano based and with a harder edge. "Who's Keeping Score" is kind of discordant and very cool. She puts just enough electronica in to jazz up the songs a little without overpowering them. This is a great record for those who enjoy well written pop-rock music with great vocals and lots of energy. " -Amy Lotsberg, www.collectedsounds.com
Girlfriends magazine recently featured Apryl Electra in their February, 2006 issue. Laurie Koh wrote:
“Like her look, Electra’s music is powerful, melodic, and full of strange, unexpected harmonies. The sound dances between electronic and singer-songwriter.”
