Album Notes

Aquaplan's music is centered around the silky vocals of Maarit Saarenkunnas, who has one of the purest female voices in the rock world according to some journalists. Combined with jazzy harmonies, inspiring song structures and meter, Aquaplan manages to invoke diverse musical associations from Joni Mitchell to Frank Zappa, Marillion to Iona. The mellow and laid-back atmosphere of the vocal parts is frequently contrasted with extended instrumental sections, which give room for the musicians to explore and have fun.

"Old Waves New Seas" is the second full-length CD from this Finnish band lead by the song-writer/guitarist Ari Sutinen. Unlike its 2003 predecessor "Paperimeri", all lyrics are sung in English this time. Thematically the new album concentrates on the happy side of ordinary everyday life, the luck of having kids and a family. All you have to do is choose.
