Album Notes

This 32 minute collection of unaccompanied solo compositions is the culmination of years of writing and ranges in style from the classical funk of "Thumpty Dumpty" to the dark and ambient "Mezzanine" to the soaring and melodic "Fly". It was recorded with one bass guitar without any layering of multiple parts. Already a first-call session player, this ambitious debut outing instantly established Aram as a strong new instrumental voice.

Reviews:

"...Bedrosian's hidden treasures are twofold: first, he summons a rich, deep, almost instantly signature tone on everything he plays, enhancing difficult material with a clarity and warmth that goes easy on the ears; second, great care and patience is taken to develop melodies and classically-influenced chord progressions, and after the third listen to "Space Opera" and "Sand Castle," you discover that beneath the virtuosic surface of Aram Bedrosian lurks the heart of a budding composer."
-Bass Player Magazine, March '08

"In a world that has been so lucky to hear the innovations of Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, and Les Claypool, the performances on this album are no less significant in their brilliant, technical radiance."
-Performer Magazine, March '08

"..as melodic as it is intense."
-Bass Guitar Magazine

"Beautiful work!"

Bassodyssey
author: Funk Lizard
This album is a work of art. It's an instrumental adventure through a flurry of notes, all done by one dude. With one instument. Simultaneously. Guitar and drums aren't even necessary. An audiosonic dreamweeve of stereophonic bliss, the most impressive bass album I've heard since Tales from the Punchbowl. Any given song on the record could become the "Classical Gas"/"Eruption" of bass, given a little time and exposure. A half hour of earphoria, it'll make you completely rethink your playing. Inspiration in a disc. It's not just appealing to musicians either, it'll kick any sound civilian's ear on its arse. This record is mind expanding, you should own it.

Aram is one the greatest bass soloists out there
author: Mike
Aram Bedrosian's debut solo album is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment Space Opera began until the last notes of Reprise faded away, I was completely enthralled by this work of art. Every track had its own defining, unique characteristic, something different to bring to the table; each of them coming together to create an ethereal soundscape. Single-handedly, Bedrosian works to redefine the idea of what the bass guitar is capable of accomplishing by crafting tunes that create the illusion of multiple musicians at work, providing both the rhythm and melody simultaneously. Kudos to Mr. Bedrosian.
