Album Notes

Formed as a four piece rock band from the ribs of a swine. or maybe ... Ruben Remus, though not a doctor, could play guitar and sing some of the old time songs. He met the Debris Chief one night at a fine dining establishment and a discourse followed. Their dialouge enticed the ears of Brutus Slider, and he too started making noise with them. Pedro DeChasworth was the last but not the least to forsake his home and join them. Now ladies and gentleman . . . these are The Archibalds!

Joey Thompson's prolific music career has taken him from Alabama to Austin and from bit parts to the frontman of The Archibalds. The band's debut album, O Camellia, is a beautiful record that mimics the career of Thompson. O Camellia is timeless, featuring songs like "Meth Mouth" that illustrate how The Archibalds manage to bridge the gap between classic folk and modern pop, alt country and avant garde, and, finally, Tuscaloosa and Austin. Peter Stafford, Chase DeLong, and Seth Gibbs are partners in Thompson's beautiful crime, rounding out the record on multiple instruments with mood and stability that gives O Camellia the sense of urgency that too many records of the same genre lack. O Camellia was jointly released by Breakfast Mascot and Austin's Superpop label on March 21st, 2007.

This album is very special. You know it's a good album when each time you listen to it, you appreciate it more and more--O Camellia is that type of album. The chord changes surprise you, the simple percussion is amazingly effective. They use horns and banjo in just the right places to evoke melancholy mood. I REALLY dig this record! Buy it!!
