AREA51 was born in 2003 by Yoichiro Ishino in pursuit of his ideal heavy metal music. After several member changes, the first album "Ankh" was released in August 2005, with noteworthy domestic sales.
In "BURRN!", Japan's most reputable Hard Rock/Heavy Metal magazine, the album was introduced as one of six of Japan's best Neo-Classical Metal albums.
We released a Brazil limited mini album, with tracks from our first album "Ankh" in February 2008.
Guitar player Yoichiro Ishino also serves as an instructor in the Guitar Department of Japan's Musician's Institute (MI), where he teaches his students with much passion and motivation.
Other media have also reacted, including sports newspapers and portal sites, who typically do not show as much interest in metal music. Also, singer Kate's fashion is receiving much attention and support, in addition to the music's composition, vocals, and performance.
We released second album "Daemnocus" for Japan in March 2008. There is a grand 16 and a half minute masterpiece, with a very special guest on main vocals, Mr. Rob Rock, the well knows singer of SOLO/IMPELLITTERI etc. The mastering was done at Finnvox Studios (Finland). "Daemonicus" was ranked #66 on Yahoo! JAPAN Music Ranking, an overall raking site including all existing artists, based on CD sales, iTunes downloads, and Ringtone downloads.
All discography are also distributed through iTunes Store in 22 countries around the world.

I love it
author: Ricardo Alcocer
I will be traveling to Japan next week and have been looking for good metal bands. Area51 sounds so cool. To me it is very difficult to compare. It's like a cross between Yngwie Malmsteen and Epica. The melodies are amazing and the guitar work reminds me a lot of Chris Impelliteri and Yngwie Malmsteen, but different at the same time. Highly recommended to anyone who likes neo-classical metal.
