Album Notes

Sisters Anne, Robbin, and Holly were homeschooled throughout their educations, and were drawn to music at very young ages. They studied violin, viola, and piano with private classical music teachers that included members of the teaching staffs of the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard School, as well as members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Several years ago, upon discovery of their appreciation of traditional Celtic and American folk music, they taught themselves to play the hammered and mountain dulcimers. When Robbin began to arrange pieces for their varied instruments, her special talents as a composer were revealed. Robbin's fresh and interesting arrangements and original compositions complement the three sisters' unique ability to communicate with each other and the listener, inspiring joy, dance, and emotion. As a trio they have arranged, recorded live, and produced three CD albums. The first CD, "In The Meadow" (2000), is a lighthearted collection of Celtic and American folk music. The second CD, "Over The River and Through The Woods" (2001), is a Christmas collection. Its refreshing arrangements of traditional favorites reflect the wonder and excitement of the season. The third CD, "Wrens In The Thicket" (2002), showcases lively Celtic-inspired arrangements and heartfelt original compositions by Robbin. All of the CDs' artwork is Anne's creation.

The sisters have performed in concerts, festivals, churches, benefits, and as soloists with several orchestras. Talented artists as well as musicians, in 1999, Anne, Robbin, and Holly started a folk art and music studio, "Four Calling Birds," with their artist mother, Gail. Their interest in American folk art of the 17th through 19th centuries parallels their affinity for the folk music of that period. Self-taught artists, their folk painting has been chosen for the Directory of the Top 200 American Craftsmen by Early American Life magazine, and has been featured in Early American Life and Country Home magazines.

Very well done

I was very impressed with the quality of music in this album. The songs are performed well, and are really enjoyable to listen to at anytime of the day. I am already planning on purchasing the other albums these girls have put together. Being homeschooled myself, it is great to see such well performed music from fellow homeschoolers.
