(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - LOVER BOY is chock full of home-taped underground visionary pop.

notes

Ariel Pink's brilliant 'LOVER BOY' album (originally released by ballbearings pinatas in 2003 as a 2CD set with 'House Arrest') is BACK as a single CD!

These songs seem like lost jems from decades past that would have changed the world had they been discovered / made then, yet, now they HAVE been made... Behold the bounty of LA's prolific underground pop visionary.

Unique and rare among Ariel's albums are collaborations / collabarators, and on 'LOVER BOY' there are several! John Maus, coL, Matt Fishbeck, and Brandt Larson, plus an R. Stevie Moore cover song, and a live version of Ariel singing the John Maus masterpiece - 'You Are My Angel', on KXLU's 'demolisten' show.

Don't miss out on the craze that is currently sweeping the universe!!!

I feel this is better than House Arrest, and has some great stuff like "Want Me" and "Don't Talk To Strangers".

  • Amazing!

As always, Ariel Pink amazes and impresses. I love this cd, and ballbearings pinatas is the only place you are going to find it! House Arrest and Worn Copy are probably my favorites, but don't overlook this lil piece of history!

  • its all about hair do's!
    author: caren ball

jumps straight in at you like a preacher telling you alternately jubilant moon language and then the echoes start-van halen, hall & opiates, always the words sound like gathered doppings from overheard conversations, bon mots and buy pot. tie knot. die hot!. It really is the radio dial being spun until rad guests on this album found somehting that deserves his attention! and mine?... i got swallowed by catchy pop sensibilities 'She' my girl' and ' Lover boy' itself. Im wanting, he's wanting, we all wanting other galaxies. p.s. he had the best hair in london in june

  • Damn this is good

No one does it like Ariel Pink - this is alternately jubilant and achingly sad, bursting with joie de vivre and shimmering with melancholy. There are melodies here from other galaxies - the kind of sounds our great-great grandchildren will marvel at. Check out 'Don't Talk To Strangers', 'Older Than Her Years', 'I Don't Need Enemies', 'Hobbies Galore' and 'Ghosts'

  • moon boy

listening to this album reminds me of a wonderful short story i read once about moon people, who are really just currents, or sound waves or something, so we can't see them. they walk around on Earth, and nobody can see them. only a few people can feel their presence. perhaps Lover Boy is really a moon boy? was he recorded on the moon? are the songs really moon language for something else? or are they his limbs? is my favourite song an arm? or the little fold by the armpit?
