This is the complete DVD of 8 award-winning Short Films from the 3-time Sundance filmmaker Ari Gold. Plus bonus music CD by Ari's brother, Ethan Gold, including the theme song from "Helicopter."

Includes:

"HELICOPTER"
Oscar Winner (Student-Alternative); Best Short (Aix-en-Provence, SXSW, Belo Horizonte), many other prizes. In the aftermath of a helicopter crash, a young man tries to remember his mother's face. An autobiographical tale of love, rock'n'roll, and violent loss. "The year's best short film" (Film Threat).

Plus a documentary on "Helicopter" by Scot Stafford.

"CULTURE"
"The best sixty seconds of film at Sundance" (reel.com). One minute. One take. One culture. WINNER: Best Narrative Short (SXSW Film Festival); Audience Award (Sao Paolo International Short Film Festival); other prizes; played at over 50 festivals worldwide.

"FROG CROSSING"
A Chaplin-esque environmentalist love story. Co-directed by Jamie Babbit ("But I'm a Cheerleader"). WINNER: Best Short (San Antonio Underground Film Festival); over 30 festivals worldwide including Sundance, Telluride, Tokyo and Rotterdam.

"LOOT"
Winner of a Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, a kleptomaniac's tale which "brilliantly pries into the mind of a bitter middle-aged Manhattan woman" (SF Bay Guardian).

"NONSTOP PYRAMID ACTION"
A "hilarious rendering of Los Angeles, like porn without the sex," with music by Ethan Gold, who later created the score for "Helicopter." Featuring Stephen Dunham and a guest performance by the amazing John Saxon.

"DECISIONS"
A one-minute fable made for MTV, starring a frog, a princess, and Duran Duran.

"ROSA'S FOOD"
A terrifying silent 8mm film starring Ethan Gold as a man who has eaten bad school cafeteria food. Okay, maybe it's not that terrifying. Ethan and Ari were 10.

"INVASION OF THE FANGY-WANGLES"
"Independence Day" and Jerry Bruckheimer owe a lot to this work. Ari's only mainstream Hollywood film, made for $30 on a windup super8 camera. Contains the seeds of the design of "Helicopter."

PLUS BONUS CLIPS.

REVIEWS

Powerful

I enjoyed this collection of film shorts immensely. Gold has a vision and style that's uniquely his own. Each short takes the viewer on a journey, full of surprises and artistic exploration. His work is powerful and expressive-- he's a filmmaker who knows his medium and uses it brilliantly.

What I Paid 4

I got this DVD in a timely manner, but the jewel case was cracked. I don't think that packaging was sufficient for this item. Anyway, it wasn't for me; it was for my girlfriend. She likes it a lot. I also think that the "thank you for buying" email you get from cd baby for buying something is pretty cool. all in all a good experience aside from the crack.

Ari Gold has a very bright future as a film maker.

Ari Gold has a very bright future as a film maker. Helicopter was so well done and such a beautiful tribute to Ari's mom. But I thought Culture was just brilliant. I wonder if Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino have seen it.
