"I Can Open My Eyes," Ari Scott's new 3-song EP, marks a significant direction change for this New York City-based singer/songwriter/pianist. After performing as a solo "quirky pop" singer/pianist for several years in many NYC venues, Ari recently collaborated with musician and producer Rob Arthur (Five For Fighting, Keri Noble, Joan Osborne) as well as executive producer Chris Cofoni from EMI/Blue Note/Manhattan Records to create this sampling. The songs on this EP are much more than the simply-arranged piano gems Ari has been playing for years. They are powerful, colorful, lush, and Ari can now easily fit alongside modern rock radio artists. It's only a taste of what's to come.
So far, on http://www.garageband.com and otherwise, the response has been overwhelmingly favorable. We hope you give a listen to the songs, and, if you like what you hear, you'll support this independent artist. All proceeds will go towards new pressings (a good cause)!
The next step in Ari's career is, simply, to the get the word out. You can help by purchasing this EP and sharing it with your friends! Also, check out Ari's 2002 full-length acoustic piano release, "i was only just a chrous girl," at http://www.cdbaby.com/ariscott.

Decent altogether - good song writing and musicianship, bad production
author: Jeremy
Ari is a no doubt a talented singer-songwriter. Hopefully she can put out more material. The production quality is bad and drum machine sounds just don't cut it in this day and age of pro tools. Also, this is only a 3 song EP, buyer beware.

Well worth a listen. Several, actually.

This is an excellent follow-up to "I Was Only Just A Chorus Girl." For those who have become accustomed and attached to the intimacy of Ari and her piano, worry not -- the band adds lushness and depth to the songs without muddying Ari's distinctive sound. I look forward to hearing more from them.

Hurray, something smart, exciting, riveting!
author: The Etruscan Review
Hurray, something smart, exciting, and riveting! A professional production in every way, this three-song CD showcases the extraordinary talents of Ari Scott as a strong and versatile singer (who doesn't scream out her lyrics; thank you very much) and an intelligent, original songwriter who isn't afraid to employ humor, pathos, and philosophy in her work. The band and Ari are right in synch. Beautiful job. Guaranteed, we’ll be hearing a lot more from this group.
