Album Notes

"Organ Trio has all of the elements....great writing, excellent musicianship and a sound that deserves to be heard."

-Edward Blanco, JazzReview.com

"The musicians sound inspired by the fresh material and while the individual solos are colorful, it is the interplay between the musicians and the appealing ensemble sound that makes Organ Trio....well worth acquiring."

-Scott Yanow, L.A. Jazz Scene

"....it's easy to hear Wes Montgomery's sense of economy, Pat Metheny's sense of melody, and Grant Green's sense of groove. Add to that the tasteful organ playing of Paul Mutzabaugh and the grooving drums of Darren Scorza, and you've got a band that can play it's collective tail off."

-Paul Abella, Chicago Jazz Magazine

Ari Seder Organ Trio showcases 11 original compositions written over a 3-year period chronicling Ari's life and musical experiences in the Windy City. The material ranges from ballads to back-beats to driving swing, with lyrical and accessible compositions as the common thread.

Ari Seder graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2001. A native of the Washington, D.C. area, Ari moved to Chicago in the summer of 2001 to take advantage of the city's vibrant jazz scene. Since moving to Chicago, Ari has performed with legendary Chicago tenor saxophonist Von Freeman, Hinda Hoffman, David Young, Taku Akiyama, Corey Wilkes, Greg Ward, and many others. He has also performed extensively as a leader with his own trio, which focuses on playing his original compositions.
