Album Notes

Arnold Rosenthal, the creator of Songs That Teach has long been a musician and educator in the Southern California area. He is currently employed with the Los Angeles Unified School District where he teaches in Northridge, California. He is not a music teacher, rather he is a man with an extensive music background, playing with such groups as Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Jesse Ed Davis, and Leon Russel, and has taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District with fully accredited teaching credentials since 1994. With these talents combined, he was able to develop an all-encompassing, musical experience for children, which delivers language arts and mathematics skills content, brain-based information to the entire student body population at the elementary level, where learning is, as we know, most critical.

"I began to develop curriculum acquired through music when I started my teaching career in 1983 at Woodcrest Elementray in Tarzana, California. I observed how positively the children responded to music. I was particulalry impressed at how effective music was as a motivational prompt in developing curriculum with ESL students in my modified bilingual classroom."

Mr. Rosenthal's credentials include a CLAD and a Master's Degree in Speech Communication, California State University at Northridge, with a focus on performing arts and organizational communication. He has also worked in the TIPS program, which trained beginning teachers in the classroom with an emphasis in curricular management.

I\'m an elementary school substitute teacher & kids of all grades loves these songs. Every class gets out of their seat & moves to the music. When a song ends, they beg for yet another. The music helps them remember the concepts...what better way to learn...while you\'re having fun!!!

I bought this album for my 2-year old daughter. This truely is a brilliant album. Marouchka loves the songs and she now starts singing along, although English is not her native language (we are French). A perfect way for me to teach her English while having fun with her. We dance and sing together. Such great melodies!
