ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As the title implies, the bicultural 18-year-old singer-songwriter, Arreanna Jaye, reflects on her own place in the world. All of the music and lyrics are further supplied by Arreanna, and they range from the jazzy "Blue Blood" where she lets loose her abilities on the piano to her catchy pop hooks on the empowering "Not a Toy" that generations of women can identify with. Nevertheless, the playful hybrid of the two songs "Please Be Mine" remains the centerpiece of the eclectic EP, and bassist Mel Brown and jazz guitarist Jay Soto provide excellent organic instrumentation in it while Arreanna displays her abilities with precise, crisp jazz scatting. The production borders flawless yet raw, and "Casting Shadows" emerges as a wonderfully mature EP keeping the artist's sincerity and innocence intact.
