Alex has once again decided to haul the singer-songwriter songs out of the closet and record the best album of your entire life. The sentiment is raw but not abrasive, honest but not whiny. The yield of this musical cookie batch is a collection of Alex's strongest songs to date, including "New Times And Fire Road," "Bail" and "The Daylight." It is similar to a cleansing summer rain when you do not have any plans for a barbecue. However you must be warned--Wharfless may make you want to have a barbecue.

tastier than a bucket of fried chicken

It's been about 2 weeks and ive had wharfless on repeat NON STOP. this album is really well made, both musically and lyrically. It has the best of both worlds.For instance, some songs, like "The Daylight" will make you want to bust out your own air guitar to jam along, while others like, "hold onto the wolves" and "when i died" will make you want to take it down a notch with a mug of hot chocolate. Some have compared this album to musical sticky buns, but i must say, it is more like musical fruit cake- except that i wouldnt want to give it to people for christmas, i'd want it all for myself.
This collection of music is definitely a must have for any breathing human being.

The highest point so far in Arrowsmith's musical progression

The problem with Wharfless is not knowing what to praise first: the impeccable production, the fact that every element (other than some gang vocals on "New Times and Fire Road") was played/sung by Arrowsmith himself, or just the songs themselves, which are insanely well-written and thought-out. From the brilliant, epic opener "New Times and Fire Road," to the beautifully rendered "The Daylight" (alluding to the events of 9/11) and the truthful "Tried and True" ("The magic fades with the passing days"), this is an album which refuses to be ignored. It is emotional and accessible, guitar-driven yet melodic. These songs will move you and make you ask questions of life.
