Under the influence of the non-toxic mind control of 2004, Alex once again sculpts a musical statue worthy of recognition in the baseball hall of fame. With every song meticulously (but not lifelessly) produced to be a highly entertaining hit, what we have on our hands here is a potato-hot disc that plays like a greatest hits album. With the guiding spirit of a noble wandering albatross, songs like "I Am The Ice Age," "Fight The Cougar" and "Admire The Admiral" spew forth a fizzy vibrancy that's all too rare in pop/rock music these days. Ridiculous but focused, original but tuneful, The Albatross Project is the soundtrack to your Wednesday afternoon badminton lesson.

Great Sound, Great Lyrics
author: Sandy Ganz
Took a chance and did the quick sample and loved the sound of the couple of tracks I picked, and did the order on the 'baby. The rest of the album is so good I can't stop listening to the oddly intelligent lyrics. Favorite Tracks are 'Fight The Cougar' and 'Trow'. A most unique CD!

A delicious blend of hilarity and intellect
author: Alyssa Perkins
I have a challenge for you: try to listen to The Albatross Project and say it isn't catchy. You will be proven wrong within ten seconds when the momentous "I Am The Ice Age" kicks in with full force. This energy never falters throughout the entire album, nor does the upbeat nature and thorough giddiness of the songs. Not to mention the slick production and fun background sonics. "Everybody dies for the same price / like a box set of Mission Impossible" Arrowsmith sings on "The Loss of your Albatross," lines which may escape you if you aren't paying attention. From the futuristic "Missile Silo" to the intricate "The Industrial Revolution," these songs sparkle with sheer jubilance. Not every album with the lyrics "Banana slug / kickass persian rug / do you always long to play ping-pong?" will produce more emotion in you than a simple chuckle. But that's exactly what The Albatross Project does -- it proves that humor can be smart... and maybe even a little bit hip.
