Folk singer/songwriter Andrea Summer, known for her powerfully emotive voice and unique piano stylings, had been recording and performing for 6 years when she met Tye VonAllmen—former drummer/guitarist of pop-punk band "Curbsquirrels". Collaborating together, they began co-writing and over time and through music, the two became inseparable. When they started recording their songs, they discovered a style that surprised them both with influences like Radiohead, Jimmy Eat World and Imogen Heap. The hybrid of sounds and melodies they molded together soon took the name - Artists & Authors.
Over the next few years, and after joining forces with artists Steven Wicks, Trentin Manning, and Zach Stutzman - Artists & Authors has quickly become the next must see band in the already thriving Cincinnati music scene. Sharing the stage with such bands and artists as Seabird, All the Day Holiday, The Pomegranates, Ellery, E for Explosion, Run Kid Run, Ric Hordinski, and Robbie Reider - they've impressed and matured. Musically and visually enthralling, the outcome is a powerful and undeniably original blend of genres that demands your attention and gets inside your head.

"Getting Nowhere," the first track on the eleven-song debut from this Cincinnati duo, seems like it's headed to balladsville from its timid beginnings. But when the guitars and drums kick in three-quarters of the way through the first minute, you'll realize that this isn't music interested in holding back. While a lot of these songs are based around strong piano leads and the equally sturdy harmonies that burst forth from those, it's the elements that surround the foundations of the tracks that really make things work. The guitar here acts initially as accompaniment, but expands into ethereal territory that adds a swirl of slight chaos and tactful melody to the compositions. Trading off on the vocals duties, the team is able to both harmonize and take the singing in their own distinct direction. Make sure to stick around until the end: "Beauty In Everything" is haunting, starkly pretty, and one of the best songs on the album.
