Aryn Day Sweeney, prizewinner at the 2005 Barbirolli International Oboe Competition, is currently on the faculty of East Tennessee State University and a member of the Johnson City Symphony. After winning a prestigious Frank Huntington Beebe Foundation Fellowship to study abroad, Dr. Sweeney received a Solo Artists Diploma from the Royal College of Music in London, England. She also holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Masters of Music degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas and her Bachelor of Music Degree, Cum Laude from the University of Southern California. Her primary teachers include Nancy Ambrose King, Robert Atherholt, Allan Vogel, Neil Black and John Anderson.

She has performed with several prominent artists including Zubin Mehta, Jeffery Tate, Peter Schreir, and members of the Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra. As well as giving solo recitals throughout the United States and England, she has been a featured performer on CBC Radio 2, a 2008 Kia Borrego commercial, and performed as principal oboe in the Rocky Mountain PBS presentation of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Dr. Sweeney has been a member of several established ensembles including the Chicago Civic Orchestra, Windsor Symphony, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra X, the Zephyr Wind Quintet, Dearborn Symphony, Plymouth Symphony and Orchestra Canton, Adrian Symphony, the Debut Orchestra and the American Youth Symphony. In addition she was also awarded scholarships to several exclusive music festivals including the Sarasota Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Hot Springs Music Festival, and the North Carolina School for the Arts International Music Program.

Dr. Sweeney has been on the faculties of Mesa State College, Idyllwild Summer Arts Festival, Wayne State University and Wayne Community College. She currently resides in Johnson City, TN with her husband, music educator and trumpeter Zach Enos, and their children Myles and Kathryn.

Her recently published scholarly transcription of the Pieces de Clavicen by the Baroque composer Joseph Hector Fiocco for oboe and harpsichord were performed at the International Double Reed Convention in Provo, Utah in 2008 and it is available for purchase through Trevco Music. This is her debut compact disc recording.
