Having all of Ashley's cd's, this is becoming one of my favorates. The songs are like medicine to the wounded soul. I really appreciate the music, lyrics, and Ashley's voice. I would highly recomend this cd for anyone who has taste and doesn't care for the usual fluff!

An outstanding follow-up to "You Are There"

I've had this CD since the week of its release but seeing it on the CD Baby website I had to chime in. Besides being an incredible record for all the reasons in the other reviews listed here, it should be said that Ashley Cleveland is one of the great rockers of a generation. Those who know her and know her music know that is not an overstatement. Sample this record, know that the rest of the songs not available for sample are more of the same of what you've heard in that there is not anything even close to a weak cut. Even when she mellows out on a couple of tracks, they are dynamic cool tunes. The production and recording of this CD are flawless with a full vocal presence, beefy guitars, some smooth B3 and well recorded percussion. I can't wait for the next one. Ashley's records are usually some three or four years apart. Hopefully, she's back in the studio much sooner.

A great follow-up to her Grammy Winning "You Are There", Ashley Cleveland's "Second Skin" is a well-produced studio recording of great CCM/Gospel rock music. Ashley's emotive and bluesy vocals and the stellar guitar work of her Producer husband, Kenny Greenberg, provide the listener a chance to hear one of the most respected singers in Nashville. A rootsy, rockin' time! Highly recommended.
