ASHLEY GRAMINS - MAMA ROCKS!

“MAMA ROCKS!” is a CD for moms, dads, grandparents, children or anyone who is thinking about having a child. The songs have a sophisticated sound for adult ears, while keeping the interest of little ears too. This CD celebrates adults and children of all ages and will have the whole family hitting the PLAY button again and again.

For her solo debut, “MAMA ROCKS!” Ashley Gramins collaborated with a team of musicians who have played and recorded with Suzanne Vega, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Bette Midler, Jewel, Shawn Colvin, Michael Stipe and Dar Williams. The sound is Hip and Fun!

Ashley was born into a family of musicians and classically trained. She has performed in musicals as well as dramatic theater, done commercial and voice-over work, and has fronted numerous bands. In New York, she has been a featured gospel soloist with the Metro Mass Choir performing at Town Hall and performed at the finals for FORTUNE Magazine’s "Corporate Battle of the Bands" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The inspiration for “MAMA ROCKS!” came from the birth of her two children and the death of her brother/musician, Brad Kirn, all of which happened in a twenty-month period. The CD is a mixture of folk rock and pop with a hint of rhythm and blues and includes two of her brother's original tunes. Her stirring vocals and raw emotion will keep you humming long after the music stops.

    I originally bought this CD because of one of the songs title which was Gracie which is what my daughter's name is. Once I got the CD I love all the songs and my kids do to! The songs are uplifting yet sentimental. It is something that both my kids and me enjoy to listen to in the car. We love it!

    This collection of songs aims to appeal to both children and adults, and it pulls it off with a hip sensibility that is sure to satisfy the tastes of both young and old. This mama rocks (but not too hard) through an array of recognizable and semi-obscure cover songs, as well as some equally catchy original tunes. It makes for a widely accessible album, helped along by her strong vocal sensibility and a backing band that showcases some very well played harmonic subtleties. The production (not to mention the song choices) is impressive as well, giving the songs a real sing-a-long feel that is a must for this type of music. Adults will find the recognizability of the songs comfortable and welcoming, and children are sure to feel at home with the warm tones and musical pleasantries. When you hear an original take on 10,000 Maniacs' "These Are Days" flow into a carefully revamped version of "You Are My Sunshine," it becomes clear that this is family music that gives both the parents and the kids something to love.
