Album Notes

Born and raised near Rochester, New York, David Ashman began his musical journey at age 6 when he received his first guitar. Throughout the next 10 years, he trained with various local musicians and studied the styles of Jimmy Page, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell.

In the 1980's, David was lead guitarist in the band Exodus and toured throughout New York and Pennsylvania with the band Relentless. During this time, he also enhanced his songwriting skills through coursework at the Hochstein School of Music in Rochester, New York.

In 1990, David took up permanent residence in Baltimore, Maryland. His artistry moved toward writing and recording acoustic music with 6 and 12-string guitars. He also began composing in alternative tunings. His lyrics have been described as ranging from "thought provoking" to "whimsical and sentimental." Recent projects include work with Billy Kemp (Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers) and Dede Wyland.

Today, David continues to play in and around the Mid-Atlantic region as part of a contemporary acoustic folk-rock trio promoting his music and performing select covers. He collaborates and records with other fellow musicians, and his music receives airplay on WRNR 103.1 radio broadcasting from Annapolis, Maryland.

Silent Smile
author: Al Kidd
A quality album from the lyrics to the arrangements to the performance. Very impressive guitar work, especially on the 12 string. I would love to hear an all instrumental album for David's next release. He is a talented composer and performer.
