Album Notes

Assisted Living is the polished Portland, Oregon band which blends emotion, passion, and energy acting on their own accord. At best, they are a synthesis of progressive rock using strong melodic choruses, with an aggressive edge that is raw combustible fuel.

A breath of fresh air...

Happily Ever After has just enough rough edges to make it raw and refreshing. You can hear a bit of the frustration and world weariness in the vocals and lyrics, which reflects the general mood of the day. Assisted living has never shied away from experimenting with their sound and they do not disappoint with this album. I would recommend this CD to anyone who is tired of the glossy, poppy music scene. Fun Surprise: A cool, funky remix of Saturday!

Intense and beautiful

Certainly one of the best CD's to get released in Portland all year. The production value is top-notch, as is the songwriting. Singer John Colgate has an understated passion & intensity waiting to unleash itself in each song. The dual guitar work is a feat all its own. The songs are tight & often beautiful. My fav: "Saturday". Other standouts: "Count the Days" and "Changing Hands". Portland music fans will also notice the guest appearance by Floater's Rob Wynia on three songs. This album is a must-have for any alt/rock fan! 5 stars!
