Artist Profile:

Astral Waves is Dj Zen aka Gabriel D. from Quebec, Canada.
Originally from France he moved to north America in 1996 with a full Cd bag with plenty of Goatrance music.
He was determined to meet party people from there to spin the music for which his heart beaten so hard!
Shortly after meeting organizers in Quebec, he spinned in after hours, clubs and raves all around the place.
He was also making backdrops to decorate places, hand painted t-shirts and always (and still have) a kiosk to sell a bunch of Cd’s…
After having spinning for 4 years and organizing “Natura” wonderful parties with his brother, he settled up his first music studio in 1999 using Reason 1.0 and Acid 3 to make some remixes from some well known bands like Juno Reactor.

Retired from Montreal for 3 years, he went to Costa-Rica to play music and paint backdrops with Transelastica collective.
Then he got a kid and had time to set up Sunline Records and Digitalys Studios to start to make music and artwork for illustrating CD covers for Sunline Records and also for Kagdila, Suntrip, Peak and Avigmatic Records.

Since 2005 he was working on his album 7/7, learning techniques and tips from great artists such as Astrix and Nuclear Ramjet…
He also plays live acts with congas (percussion) and vocalist Ina (Cristina Duarte) lays her nice voice in the background.

He’s into several new musical projects with Nuclear Ramjet, Alain M. (Mystic Grooves), David L. (Azriel) and will release a 2nd album soon on Altar Records.

Astral Waves is Dj Zen’s psybient project from Sunline Records Studios, in Quebec, Canada.

Zen is well known for his ability to tell deep spiritual stories with his music, which always ends in a mind blowing experience. He has already released his music on compilations like “Chilling Goddess” (Peak), “Opus Iridium”(Suntrip),“Moonshadow Beats” (Sunline) and has received warm feedback from other artists and listeners.
He’s the man behind “Peace Therapy” compilations, Moonshadow Beats at Sunline Records and the new Canadian Reggae/Dub music label: Altar Records.

Now, after 2 years of hard labour, he is ready to release his own album named after a mystical experience (see inlay).
With tracks like ‘Dreaming’, ‘Salome’, and the heavenly ‘Half Way to Heaven’, there is a clear effort to bring a message of peace and well-beingness to the world.

Remixes from well known Eastern Spirit (Israel) and SynSun (Russia) create the euphoric part of the album while “Riding the Light” and “Flying into the Mystic”, in the vein of Cosma deep and melodic psytrance style, will contribute to making his reputation as one of the most promising contemporary musician to come out of Quebec, Canada.

Ethno soft psytrance with a silky analog production, soulful optimistic beats combined with Arabian vocals contribute to the ethno east bound ambience in his music… Also “Stellaragen” will make you feel dizzy with its spacey electro-organic experience.

The music ranges from psy/ambient, Dub– downtempo, chill to trance….It is a journey that will take you from 70 bpm to 128 bpm.

The album is a whole new concept: the layout, which describes the history of the making of and the source of his inspiration, is presented in 3 languages: french, english and spanish.

This is the third Cd from Sunline Records.
It took over 2 years of work to carefully design the CD layout, finalizing the audio mastering and doing promotion over the web.

Promotion done in one full page into Mushroom Magazine Dec. ‘2007.
Promotion by the artists in a lot of parties at their own kiosk & booths.
Promotion will be done in several CD launch parties in Canada.
Promotion by giving away CD promo copies to Dj’s worldwide.
