Album Notes

"American Gothic" is basically a novel set to music. The first track introduces you to our nameless tragic hero. Throughout the CD you see him grow from a little boy to adulthood. And through a series of bad decisions and bad luck streaks, we eventually come to his death by the end of the CD. Although the lyrical content is dark, the music and melodies are upbeat. From country swing to straight-up rock, the mandolin and fiddle soaked songs keep your fingers snapping and toes tapping.

Caroline - Dylanesque Ballad - Rock Solid Band!!!
author: WAV_Bass (www.garageband.com)

Caroline - I don't Know How You Do It... Starts out in a moderate folk vein, with solidly done violin fills, a Dylanesque balladeer unravels a story which quickly darkens into a tale of dysfunctional family in crisis. By the time the police come we're folk-rocking out with bass and drums, and a very competent electric lead alternates with this skillful fiddling. Mom's handcuffed and led off to jail - leaving the son traumatized and sleepless. Good writing - but a tough story. This song has everything you'd want or need. Solid musicians, good leads on guitar and fiddle, rock solid bass and drums and solid lead vocals with touches of nice harmony. Solid vocal hook on the bridge "Caroline...." Nice job - lyrics, progressions, arranging, performing! Nice sense of rhythm - the leads and bridge provide nice variety. A dark tale that chronicles family life in crisis. This semi-pro group might be going pro soon - better pick up on this before the major labels do. Extra Credit: Lyrics, Melody. - WAV_Bass Hopkinton, New Hampshire March 14th, 2007
