A "friends and family" disc from the archives of Atomic Mouse Recordings. The first compilation from the diverse Chicago label. Stylistically, the artists carve a wide swath, but there's a unifying DIY spirit that binds the music together. Hip-hop novelty cuts, edgy guitar bands, electronica, aural experiments, and old-fashioned guys-with-their guitars a-singin' -- it's a fascinating snap shot of musicians and artists doing what they do in their art/music worlds. The proverbial sound in a vacuum.
